Plains, Trains and Automobiles

Audio Version: Let Me Hear It!

Among other great things, summer travel affords much needed down time and we’d like to help your entire family relax… and learn. Whether by plane, train or automobile, we’ve got some great summer reads for your traveling pleasure. E-read, listen to audio or get your fix from an old-school paperback – pick from our favorite flips below to help pass the time.

For all the moms and dads out there… “Yes, you can!” help your children appreciate the value of a dollar. Yes, You Can…Raise Financially Aware Kids by Jack Jonathan is an engaging book that makes learning fun – both for the teacher (yes, you!) and the student. This one we recommend purchasing in old-school format – it’s interactive and provides room for notes.

For the bedtime storytellers… it’s never too early to create a captive audience! One Cent, Two Cents, Old Cent, New Cent is the quintessential learning library tool for little ones. In all seriousness, who doesn’t know of someone who has fond memories of Dr. Seuss!?

If you’d like to mute market headlines and get back to investing basics, pick up Benjamin Graham’s The Intelligent Investor. You might have to extend your vacation to finish this 640 pager, but, it is the only book on investing you will need to read in your lifetime.

For the young adult entering the working world, or anyone wanting a refresher on how to create your unique impression, Executive Presence by Sylvia Ann Hewlett is well worth scooping up off the e-shelf at AmazonSmile.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has transformed the lives of millions of people of all ages and occupations, including Presidents and CEOs, educators and parents. Steven Covey outlines seven organizational rules for improving effectiveness and increasing productivity at work and at home. There’s bound to be at least one takeaway that will stick with you.

Finally, one, well… just for fun. You won’t be able to put down Liane Moriarty’s juicy mystery, Big Little Lies. A definite poolside read, but don’t forget your sunscreen! Reading this while sunbathing can make you, well, red.

When you’re finished with these, keep a lookout for our very own $ense book which will be hitting the shelves this holiday season. We’ll share more details on this later.
